The Brandywine Valley Girl Scout Service Unit, composed of troops from Kennett Square and Unionville -Chadds Ford School districts, participated in several service projects over the holidays. Many troops participated in the 4-H Creating Community Network Holiday Care Package Service project which provides Christmas to entire local families in need. This year troops sponsored 11+ local families in need. In addition to these community projects, the local Girl Scouts have, for over 25 years, held a Holiday Dance to celebrate the season of giving. Dance participants were asked to donate a child’s unwrapped gift to Doris Haley’s Prison Ministry which serves the children of the residents at Chester County Correctional Facility. the Scouts also collected food for the Kennett Food cupboard and the victims of Hurricane Sandy!
