The Brandywine Valley Girl Scout Service Unit, composed of troops from the Kennett School and Unionville-Chadds Ford School Districts, is providing Christmas for 27 foster children with the Delaware Valley Children Charity. This annual project allows the Girls in a troop to discuss, plan, buy and wrap presents for their assigned child who is usually the same age/sex. The Service Unit troops also participate in the COSECHA Holiday Care Package Service project which provides Christmas to entire local families in need. This year troops sponsored 11+ families. In addition to these community projects, the local Girl Scouts have, for over 25 years, held a Holiday Dance to celebrate the season of giving. Dance participants were asked to donate a child’s unwrapped gift to Doris Haley’s Prison Ministry which serves the children of the residents at Chester County Correctional Facility.
